App promotion, app marketing, or mobile marketing all refer to the strategies to promote an app to acquire users.
Why is app promotion important?
There are about 2.6 million and 5 million apps on the Google Play Store and App Store, respectively. Furthermore, every app has a competitor counterpart from another publisher or developer. To stand out, an app needs to put itself in front of the target users, and the users will ultimately bring revenue to the app.
Types of app promotion strategies
The two ways of promoting an app are as follows:
- Paid: Paid marketing involves paying or bidding on keywords to run ads on a platform. Some examples are social media ads, Apple Search Ads, and Google App Campaigns.
- Organic: This method is free of cost. It involves increasing the visibility of an app through App Store Optimization or ASO, consistently posting on social media platforms to attract more users, and other such practices.
